2 c shortening
1 ½ c brown sugar
1 ½ c white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp van
2 tsp soda
2 tsp salt
3 T hot water
3 c flour
5 c oats
1 ½ c nuts
12 oz (2 pkg) choc chips

Cream together shortening & sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, soda, and salt, then mix in oats and hot water. Stir in choc chips and nuts. Drop by tsp on cookie sheets. 350º 12-15 min
